SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2016-17: Competed in the 800-meter run six times...clocked a career-best time of 1:52.60 (adjusted for altitude) to finish third at the Air Force Team Challenge...added runner-up finishes at the Air Force Invitational (1:53.21a) and Tyson Invitational (1:53.02)...clocked an outdoor-best time of 1:52.76a to finish fourth at the Jack Christiansen Invitational...led off the 4x800-meter relay that finished eighth at the Drake Relays (7:40.45)...academic all-conference selection.

FRESHMAN YEAR | 2015-16: Competed in the 800-meter run nine times...recorded an outdoor-best time of 1:55.98 (adjusted for altitude and track size) to finish fourth at the Adams State Qualifier...clocked an outdoor-best 1:56.08a at the Colorado Invitational...earned a top-five finish in that event at the Air Force Twilight Open (fourth, 1:59.02)...academic all-conference selection.

HIGH SCHOOL: Punahou School...Hawaii state champion in the 800-meter run...also ran on the 4x400-meter relay team that finished second at the state championships...three-time all-state honoree (twice in cross country, once at 800 meters)...four-time all-Interscholastic League of Honolulu honoree (three times in cross country, once at 800 meters)...also competed in soccer, earning ILH Honorable Mention honors...received scores of 5 in AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism, AP Physics C: Mechanics and AP Calculus BC.

PERSONAL: Full name is Gordon Francis Hardie Kowalkowski...nicknames are “Sawyer” or “Hawaii”...son of Randy Kowalkowski and Lydia Hemmings...is an only child...majoring in aeronautical engineering...future plans include becoming a pilot...serving as Guardian of Honor...named to the Dean’s List and Athletic Director’s List...hobbies include the beach, playing recreational football with Zac Petrie, telling Nikolai Rhodes that Hawaii has culture, seeing Andrew Milliron every morning (and telling him good morning), giving Coach Cole high-fives, asking Jacob Bilvado why “I just don’t get it” and discussing aeronautical theory with Tyler Younkers, Zac Petrie, Conner Wilburn, Jacob Bilvado and Jack Quinn...gets expert car advice from Josh Wojciechowski...completed Operation Air Force at Beale AFB, Calif., over the summer...also traveled home during leave...has a Hawaiian middle name: Ke Ola Maika’i O Ke Kumu Koa...member of Cadet Squadron 37.
