JUNIOR YEAR | 2016-17: Qualified to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 1500-meter run for the second-straight year...posted a season-best time of 4:25.65 (adjusted for altitude) to score for the Falcons at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships (seventh)...collected a pair of top-five finishes in that event – Jerry Quiller Classic (fourth, 4:36.50a) and Johnson/Joyner Kersee Invitational (fifth, 4:31.61)...ran on the 4x1600-meter relay that clocked a new Academy record at the Drake Relays (19:34.06)...also ran on the distance medley relay that recorded the program’s second-fastest time at that meet (11:23.94)...ran the mile during two indoor meets, clocking a season-best time of 5:06.83a at the Air Force Team Challenge.

SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2015-16: NCAA qualifier at 1500 meters...impacted the program record book in four events...clocked the fifth-fastest 1500-meter time in Academy history (4:24.93) to finish fourth at the Michael Johnson Classic...earned additional top-five finishes in that event at the Stanford Invitational (third, 4:29.46) and Sun Angel Classic (fourth, 4:30.54)...scored for Air Force at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships (sixth, 4:30.39)...ran on the 4x1600-meter relay that clocked an Academy-record time of 19:53.61 at the Drake Relays...also led off the distance medley relay that posted the third-fastest outdoor time in program history (11:32.88) at that meet...earned the team’s Athlete of the Week award following the Drake Relays...ran the third leg of the indoor DMR that posted the program’s second-fastest time (11:26.06, adjusted for altitude) at the MW Indoor Championships...competed in the mile during three meets...clocked a season-best 4:56.00a in the conference semifinals.

FRESHMAN YEAR | 2014-15: Impacted the Academy’s record book in two events...recorded the fifth-fastest mile time in Air Force history, after clocking a 4:53.30 (adjusted for altitude) during the preliminaries of the Mountain West indoor Championships (eighth)...scored for the Falcons in that event after placing seventh in the finals (4:54.31a)...won the mile in collegiate debut (5:16.14a, Air Force Collegiate Open)...also ran the 800-meter run once, clocking a 2:20.80a to take third at the Adams State Qualifier...clocked the program’s eighth-fastest 1500-meter time (4:29.30) during the outdoor season...registered that time during a third-place performance at the Aztec Invitational...finished within the top three of the 1500-meter run (second, 4:39.50a) and 800-meter run (third, 2:22.38a) at the Air Force Twilight Open...earned the team’s Track Athlete of the Week award twice (once indoors, once outdoors).

PERSONAL: Full name is Giulianna Gabrielle Vessa...nickname is “Baby Gap”...daughter of Frank and Deana Vessa...has two brothers (one older, one younger) and one younger sister...majoring in management...future plans include becoming either an agent in the Office of Special Investigations, an intelligence officer or a space operations officer...has served as Athletic Clerk, Support NCO and the Operation Air Force Cadet-in-Charge...named to the Superintendent’s List for excellence in military, academic and athletic performance...attended the Academy’s Prep School...awarded the Athletic Rope for having a PFT score that was ranked within the top 10-percent of class...hobbies include running, cooking and a coffee enthusiast and Foodie...would like to add “some things I live by: remain humble, always look for opportunities to learn from those before you, and seek perfection knowing that it is only attainable through your discipline and actions, seek support through your family, friends and most importantly, God”...completed the Powered Flight course over the summer...also served as cadre for the obstacle course during Basic Cadet Training...member of Cadet Squadron 20.
