SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2014-15: Earned all-conference honors as a member of the distance medley and 4x400-meter relay teams that finished second at the Mountain West Indoor Championships...those two relays also clocked the sixth-fastest times in Academy history at that meet...ran the third leg of the 4x400-meter relay (3:13.08) and the second leg of the distance medley relay (9:45.12, adjusted for altitude)...competed in the 400-meter dash six times during the indoor season...posted a career-best time of 49.78 at the New Mexico Invitational...that was the second-fastest time on the team in 2015...led the Falcons in the 300-meter dash after finishing third at the Air Force Holiday Open with a time of 35.45...competed in the 200-meter dash at the Adams State Qualifier, finishing fifth with a time of 22.84...participated in the 400-meter dash during seven outdoor meets...clocked a personal-best time of 49.25 at the Bryan Clay Invitational...raced in the 200-meter dash at the Rock Chalk Classic, posting a wind-aided time of 22.05

FRESHMAN YEAR | 2013-14: Competed in three events during the indoor season...ran the 400-meter dash four times...posted a career-best time of 52.01 at the Air Force Team Challenge...competed in the 200-meter dash at three meets...clocked a personal-best time of 23.55 at the Air Force Collegiate Open...also ran the 500-meter dash at the Air Force Holiday Open, recording a time of 1:07.70...did not compete during the outdoor season.

HIGH SCHOOL: Oregon High School...ran on the 4x400-meter relay team that won the 2013 Illinois state championship meet...also competed on the 4x800-meter relay team that finished fourth at that meet...named Illinois State Scholar...also selected as IHSA Scholar-Athlete.

PERSONAL: Son of Jerry and Angie Newman...father served in the Army National Guard (Lieutenant Colonel)...has two younger brothers, Nick and Andrew...also has one younger sister, Abby...majoring in civil engineering...future plans include becoming a pilot...served as Operations NCO...hobbies include reading and working on his ’67 Mustang...favorite TV show is The Big Bang Theory...traveled to Luke AFB, Ariz., over the summer and received an incentive ride in an F-16...member of Cadet Squadron 38.
