    JUNIOR (2008): Finished seventh in the 5000-meter run at the outdoor conference championships...with a time of 15:01.55, was one of four Falcons to finish within the top eight...clocked the season's third-fastest time in the 10,000-meter run (31:06.46) at the Drake Relays...finished second in his heat at that meet...posted the season's third-best time in the 5000-meter run (14:35.13) at the Husky Classic......earned the team's Track Athlete of the Week award once during the outdoor season.

    SOPHOMORE (2007): Led the Falcons' in the 10,000-meter run during the outdoor season...clocked a career-best time of 30:41.70 at the Oregon Invitational...that time is the ninth-best in Academy history...competed in the 5000-meter run during the outdoor season, posting a time of 15:03.64 at the MWC Championships...participated in the steeplechase, clocking a season-best time of 10:26.32 (adjusted for altitude) at the Rob Upton Invitational... competed in three events during the indoor season...clocked season-best times of 4:29.95a (mile), 8:36.69 (3000-meter) and 15:23.74a (5000-meter).

    FRESHMAN (2006): Competed in the 3000-meter run during the indoor season, clocking a season-best time of 9:23.02a at the Air Force All-Comers Meet...also ran the 5000-meter run in 16:37.36a at the Air Force Invitational ...picked up a time of 15:38.97a in the 5000-meter run during the outdoor season at the Jack Christiansen Invitational...ran the 1500-meters in a season-best time of 4:05.21a at the Risdon Westen-Air Force Twilight Invitational.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Four-time letterwinner in cross country and track...named Student-Athlete of the Year as a junior...four-time all-European honoree in cross country... clocked a personal-best 3000-meter time of 9:01.

    PERSONAL: Son of Steve and Julie Cowles...father is an Air Force lieutenant colonel, who works in the Academy's athletic department and serves as an assistant coach of the cross country and track teams...has one younger brother, Aaron, who is a sophomore at the Colorado School of Mines ...majoring in American history...future plans include becoming a pilot...hobbies include Frisbee and card games...member of the Air Force cross country team.
