FRESHMAN (2012): Competed in both hurdle events during the outdoor season...clocked a career-best time of 15.44 in the 110-meter hurdles at the Western State Invitational...posted a personal-best 400-meter hurdles time of 58.26 at the Jack Christiansen Invitational...ran on the 4x200-meter relay (1:30.78), 4x400-meter hurdle relay (3:58.73) and shuttle hurdle relay (1:02.85) teams that placed second at the Air Force Relays...competed in the 60-meter hurdles once during the indoor season...clocked a time of 37.56 at the Air Force Blue-Silver Open...also competed in the 200-meter dash (23.48, Air Force All-Comers Meet) and 300-meter dash (37.56, Air Force Blue-Silver Open) during the indoor season...academic all-conference selection. HIGH SCHOOL: Cibola High School...three-year letterman for the track team...all-city hurdler...ran the second-fastest 300-meter hurdles time in the 5A Division...member of the 1600-meter relay team that won the 5A state championship...finished third in the state championship meet in the 110-meter hurdles...also played football...two-year letterwinner. PERSONAL: Son of Herman and Aretha Mitchell...nickname is "Mitch"...has one sister, Cydney, and has three brothers - Brandon, Adam and Drew...majoring in International History, with a focus in Europe...future plans include becoming a pilot or working in the intelligence field...named to the Dean's List and the Athletic Director's List...hobbies include travelling, working out and reading...has a personal goal to climb all of the Colorado 14ers...attended the Academy's Prep School...received the Most Improved Student Award after going from a 3.0 to 3.5 in three semesters...completed Airmanship 490 (jump) and Expeditionary Survival and Evasion Training (ESET) over the summer...also backpacked through Germany with brother...member of Cadet Squadron 19. |
