U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. - At the conclusion of the USA Shooting 2017 Winter Airgun Championships, two Air Force rifle marksmen earned gold, silver and bronze medals for their top performances in the Men’s Open and Junior Air Rifle Championships on Dec. 1-3 at the USOC.
Air Force sophomore Logan Ogden and junior Spencer Cap both earned top honors for air rifle after qualifying for both the Men’s Open and the Junior Air Rifle finals. On day 1, Cap qualified for the finals with a score of 621.9 and had a 622.5 on day 2. Ogden qualified with a 627.1 and had a 622.0.
Ogden set a USA Shooting junior record with his score of 627.1, and led the 2016 Olympian and reigning National Champion from Virginia, by a 3.5 -point victory. Ogden shot the high 247.1 in finals and finished with a two-day total of 1252.6. Cap finished in the championships with a total score of 1246.4 with a finals score of 183.7.
Ogden earned two gold medals, and Cap brought home two silver medals and a bronze medal.
