U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. - The Air Force Academy rifle team continues to keep the pressure on themselves as the outscored the Nebraska Cornhuskers in a home match at the USAFA Falcon Rifle Range on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012. The Falcons won the match 4650-4622 outshooting the Cornhuskers in both smallbore and air rifle.
The Falcons shot a 2303 in the smallbore with both Ben York and Kevyn Stinett firing the team's highest scores of 577 each. In air rifle, the squad had a cumulative score of 2347 as both the Falcons' Tyler Rico and Meredith Carpentier were the overall high shooters with 590s each.
The air rifle NCAA squad included Rico (590), Carpentier (590), Stinett (587), David Higgins (580) and (York, 578) and in smallbore, York (577), Stinett (577), Kyle Jameson (575), Rico (574) and (Carpentier, 574).
The unofficial team score was 5802 which included the fifth man in the smallbore and air rifle squads. The Rifle team is now 9-3.
The rifle team will be off until Nov. 30 when they will compete in the Olympic Air Gun Trials at the USOC Range.
