Junior Tom Chandler is this week's athlete of the week. Chandler broke two Air Force Academy team records during the President's Trophy Match on Saturday at West Point. Chandler, from Oak Harbor, WA, had the highest aggregate air rifle score for an Air Force shooter with a 592/600. He also had the highest total score of 1178, which was previously held by Christopher Hill who scored an 1174 in 2006. Chandler was also the Falcons' lone medalist shooting a season high 586 points in smallbore, just one point short of his career high.

"Shooting well, and winning is nothing compared to knowing that you have done all that is expected of you as an Air Force athlete," said Chandler. "It is an honor to shoot well and to have the support of my coaches and team behind me for every match."

The rifle team finished third at the President's Trophy Match, which was hosted by the Black Knights. Army won the match with 5789 points, Navy followed with 5784, Air Force (5781) and the Coast Guard (5164). In the four-man NCAA format, Air Force posted the highest team overall scores for the NCAA in the two disciplines, 2873 points in smallbore and 2908 in air rifle.
