The Air Force Academy rifle team took second place at the annual All Service Academies President's Day Cup on Nov. 6, at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in Connecticut. Air Force finished with an aggregate score of 5,766. Army took first place with an aggregate score of 5,770. Navy scored 5,730 points for third place, followed by the Coast Guard with 5,282 points.
In air rifle, the Falcons' tied with Army with 2,895 points. Navy won the match with 2,906 points, while the Coast Guard Bears finished with an aggregate of 2,729. The Falcons' top scorers in the match were Tom Chandler with 590 points. Robert Vasquez scored 583 points.
In smallbore, the Falcons outscored both the Midshipmen and the Bears, 2,871-2,824-2,553, respectively. Army won the match with an aggregate 2,875. The high scorers for Air Force were Chandler with 585 points and Pat Everson with 576 points.
Air Force's high-four scorers in air rifle were Kyle Phillips (574), Mike Seery (574), Everson (574), Chandler (590) and Vasquez (583). In smallbore the high-four scorers were Phillips (570), Chandler (585), Matt Kluckman (568), Everson (576) and Ben York (572).
The rifle team will be home in November as Air Force hosts UTEP on Nov. 20 and Nevada-Reno on Nov. 21.
