Nov. 6, 2005 -- President's Cup USAFA Rifle (Cadet Gym Rifle Range)
The Air Force Academy rifle team is hosting the 2005 President's Cup. Competing today are Army, the defending 2005 NCAA champions, Navy, who were the '05 fourth-place finishers, and the Coast Guard. The Falcons expect to have at least three members of the rifle team to have scores over 580. Today's competition hosts over 30 competitors shooting in three relays. In the smallbore relay No. 1, Army's Paul Abalo was the lead shooter in today's President's Cup. Abalo shot a smallbore 592/600. Air Force's Chris Hill and Clifton Mulkey tied with 584/600. Mulkey's score tied his personal best in this weapon. In the air rifle relay No. 1, the top shooters were Navy's Kunzelman (585); USAFA's Raines (577); Army's Jablonski (569) and the Coast Guard's Wyman (546). At the end of relay No. 1, the team scores stand at: Navy (2848); Coast Guard (2597); USAFA (2136) and Army (1953). The final results for today's President's Cup will be posted on the web site following the match.
