Update: U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. - On Oct. 14, 2011, the Air Force Academy rifle team won the match, 4,602-4,570, against the Nebraska Huskers at the NU Rifle Range. On Oct. 15, the Falcons lost to the West Virginia Mountaineers, 4,664-4,597, in Lincoln.
Against the Huskers, Kyle Phillips was the Falcons' top shooter in the smallbore with a 569. Pat Everson had the highest air rifle score overall (586). Also in smallbore, Mike Seery scored 100 in the prone position to finish with a 563. Air Force scored 2,264 in smallbore and 2,338 in the air rifle.
In Saturday's matches against WVU, the Falcons' lost, 2,318-2,267, in smallbore and 2,346-2,320 in air rifle at the NU Rifle Range. Everson paced the Falcons with a combined score of 1,150. He shot a 100 in air rifle and finished with a score of 586. He also scored 564 in the smallbore. Seery scored 100 twice in prone for a 569 score, he finished with a 570 in air rifle for a 1,139 combined score.
Also shooting for Air Force in smallbore, Phillips shot a 570, Joshua Daviscourt (Lone Tree, CO) scored 569, Ben York (Larkspur, CO) had a 564, Meredith Carpentier (563), Robert Vasquez (558), Craig O'Daniel (556), and Matt Kluckman scored a 553.
In air rifle, Carpentier had a 580, O'Daniel (577), Vasquez (577), York (577), Phillips (576), Daviscourt (573), and Kluckman scored a 560.
Against Nebraska, the Falcons scored in smallbore with York's 568, Vasquez' 558, Carpentier (554) and O'Daniel (553) points.
In the air rifle, York had a 578, followed by Phillips with a 574, O'Daniel had a 573 and Seery finished with a score of 571.
Previously, in the meet against UTEP in El Paso on Oct. 8, the team lost, 4,651-4,570. Against UTEP, Everson shot a career high 590 in air rifle, which was the score overall, he finished with a combined 1,161 score (571 in smallbore). Other highlights include: Vasquez and O'Daniel shooting the No. 6 top scores of 571 and 582, respectively. Vasquez scored in air rifle and O'Daniel's score was in the smallbore. In team scores Air Force had a 2,320 in air rifle and 2,267 in smallbore.
