Marksman Mike Seery wins bronze medal

    The United States Junior World Championship rifle team comprised of Air Force Academy junior marksman Mike Seery, along with Jimmie Cooper (Columbus, Ga.) and Ryan Bender-Dunham (University of Alaska-Fairbanks) placed third in the 50m rifle prone men junior championships at the 50th ISSF World Championships in Munich, Germany, on August 1, 2010.

    Seery (Oregon, Ohio) had the highest team USA score with a 595 in the 50m prone and led the team to win the bronze-team medal. Teammates Cooper had a 590 and Bender-Dunham finished with a 589 for a team aggregate 1774 points. Seery also scored a 589 in the 50m rifle prone men junior individual competition.

    In June, Seery became the school's first men's USA Shooting Junior National 50-meter prone rifle champion and qualifier for the U.S. Junior World Championship Team in the prone event.

    Poland won the junior team ISSF World Championships, Germany finished second and Austria took fourth place.
