Two Air Force athletes named Academic All-American

U.S AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - Two Air Force Academy athletes were named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-American at-large team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Senior Matthew Kluckman (rifle) was named to the second team while junior Adam McKenzie (ice hockey) was named to the third team. Both were first-team academic all-district selections.

Kluckman, from San Antonio, Texas, carried a 3.97 cumulative grade point average as an electrical engineering major. During the 2012-13 season, he shot a personal best 584 in air rifle (Oct. 13) at the Ohio State match against West Virginia and Akron. He shot a personal best 576 in smallbore (Oct. 27) against UTEP and Nevada. Kluckman concluded his Academy athletic career at the NCAA Championships and posting a final score of 1,146.

McKenzie, from Petaluma, Calif., has a 3.84 cumulative GPA as an aeronautical engineering major. A first-team all-conference defenseman and Atlantic Hockey Association Defenseman of the Year, McKenzie was the team's top scoring defenseman with 20 points (8-12-20). He ranked sixth in the AHA in points by a defenseman in all games. McKenzie was named the AHA Player of the Week, first weekly league honor of his career, with five points (1-4-5) to help lead Air Force to a sweep of 13th-ranked Niagara in March. --30--
