Air Force marksmen finish in the top 50 of NJOSC

    U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. - Following the two-day 2014 National Junior Olympic Championships for the 10m Men's Air Rifle competition, Air Force cadets Tyler Rico finished 11th among 105 shooters. David Higgins finished 13th, Ryan Jacobs finished 19th and Noah Kwock finished in 42nd place. The competition ran from April 18-19 at the U.S. Olympic Shooting Range in Colorado Springs.

    In the 10m air rifle, Rico shot a two-day total of 1222.4, scoring 606.6 the first day and 615.8 on day two. Higgins had a 613.7 and 608.1 for a total of 1221.8 points. Jacobs scored a 608.3 and 607.1 for an aggregate 1215.4 points. Kwock finished with a 599.7 and 600.7 for 1200.4 points.

    On April 16, Mary Simonton finished 83rd among 110 shooters in the 10m air rifle at the women's nationals. Simonton scored a 392.2 on day 1 and a 397.1 on day 2 for a combined total of 789.3 points.

    The 50m Three-Position competition is scheduled for April 24-26. The three Air Force cadets competing are Higgins, Rico and Jacobs.
