Rifle team closed out regular season with loss to Nevada-Reno

Air Force Academy rifle team closed out the 2006-07 season at a match against the University of Nevada at Reno this weekend. The Falcons lost the aggregate match to Reno by one point (4527-4528). However, the Falcons won the air rifle portion 2296-2249. In smallbore, the Falcons lost 2231-2279.

This was the final collegiate match for senior Jess Palomba, who was the high scorer for the Air Force with 1140 X 1200. This match marks the eighth time in 12 matches that she was the leading shooter for the Falcons. She was also the high scorer for all shooters from both schools at this match.

"Air Force will go into the off-season with high hopes for next year. Coming off this rebuilding season, the Falcons will have a new head coach, upgraded equipment and facilities, and eight recruits," said Lt Col Bill Roy.
