Meredith Carpentier, Primetime Performer of the Week

U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. - Feb. 1, 2012: CollegeSports360.com released its selections for this week's Primetime Performers of the Week (1/31/12) in DI Sports. Air Force Academy freshman Meredith Carpentier (CS21) from the rifle team was honored as one of 16 student-athletes in their respective sports. On Jan. 29, in a rifle match against No. 6 University of Mississippi, Carpentier's high score of 590 contributed to the team's first win this season over a top ranked team (4628-4627). Carpentier was also the top individual shooter in the air rifle match. She topped her high score off with a 100, 96, 98, 98, 99 and 99 for the high total. Under Coach Launi Meili,Carpentier is the first Academy shooter to fire that high of a score against the Rebels. In the three-way match, Air Force placed first (4628), followed by Ole Miss (4627), and Citadel women (4258). The Falcons outshot the Bulldogs and the Rebels in both the smallbore and air rifle matches. "The CollegeSports360 Primetime Performer awards program goes beyond simply the raw stats or results, instead taking into account the quality of the opposition, contribution to team success and other situational factors (such as all-around play, leadership, clutch efforts, adversity overcome, etc.)," according to CollegeSports360.com.
