Air Force Rifle Team Edged Out Nebraska, 4614-4566

    U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. -- The Air Force Academy rifle team edged out Nebraska to win the match, 4614-4566, on Saturday at the Academy's Cadet Gymnasium rifle range. The Falcons' posted 2315 points in the air rifle and 2299 points in the smallbore rifle. In air rifle, Tom Chandler was the team's high scorer with 586 points. Mike Seery had the team's highest smallbore score with 583 points.

    Also in air rifle, Robert Vasquez fired a 579, Ben York shot a 578 and Pat Everson finished with a 572, with Chandler's 586, the four-man squad scored 2315 points.

    In the smallbore, Chandler fired 578 points, Everson notched 571 points and York added 567 points for the team score of 2299.

    With match highs, Seery had 572 points in air rifle and Kyle Phillips had 560 points in smallbore.

    The win gives the Falcons a 5-4 record for the season. The rifle team will travel to Charleston, SC, for a two-day match against The Citadel, Jan. 29-30.
