AFA Rifle Team Ready for Texas Christian
Jan. 23, 2004 The Falcons are poised for their last home match of the year, Jan. 24 at 7 a.m., when they host TCU. The match is only the second time this year that the Falcons have come up against the Horned Frogs. The Falcons defeated the Horned Frogs in the fall in Fort Worth. In practice this past week the team has continued to see scores rise to the best of the year on the quest for the NCAA Championships. "The team has struggled in the past few months to have four reliable and high scores available in the smallbore event, but we now have five shooters shooting their best ever," head coach Justin Broughton said. Shooters to watch this weekend will be Chris Hill, who is on pace to set the school record again this week after doing it two weeks ago. Team captain Jason Waldow will probably not be on first team this week as freshman Michelle Bonneau and sophomore Edward Gallagher will gain first team experience. Bonneau has only been shooting smallbore for two weeks while Gallagher is returning from surgery in November. "It is good to see that while injuries have hurt us this year, the rest of the team is stepping up to fill the voids," Broughton said.
The match begins at 7:00 a.m. at the USAFA rifle range in the Cadet Gymnasium lower level.
