Air Force Rifle team fell to Nanooks, 4,653-4,616

The Air Force Academy rifle team lost to the University of Alaska Nanooks, 4,653-4,616, Dec. 2, at the Academy's Cadet Gymnasium Rifle Range. The Falcons scored 2,288 points in the smallbore and 2,328 in the air rifle for the team aggregate 4,616. The Falcons' top marksman in the event was senior Tom Chandler with an air rifle score of 588 followed by a 578 in the smallbore. The remaining four-man squads for each rifle were juniors Robert Vasquez with a 587, Pat Everson's 573, and sophomore Ben York who fired a 580 in the air rifle. Juniors Kyle Phillips and Mike Seery both fired 572s, and Everson finished with a 566 in the smallbore. Also in the air rifle Phillips scored 571 points and York had 552 points in the smallbore. On Jan. 16, the Falcons will host TCU at the Cadet Gymnasium Rifle Range followed by a meet against Nebraska on Jan. 22.
