Air Force Rifle beats Army in President’s Trophy Match

Fr. Sarah Sawicki, AFA's top shooter in President's Trophy Match

U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. (Nov. 4) The Air Force Rifle team beat Army West Point 4668-4656 in the President’s Trophy Match on Saturday (Nov. 4) in Annapolis, Md. The Naval Academy rifle team was host to the annual service academies President’s Trophy Match. The Falcons also beat Navy (4654) and the U.S. Coast Guard (4512).

This is the Falcons’ fourth-consecutive all-service academy title. Freshman Sarah Sawicki (East Brunswick, N.J.) led all shooters with a total score of 1174. She had the top score in air rifle with a 596/600, scoring 400 points in her last four series of targets. Junior Anna Weilbacher (Leona Valley, Calif.) had the next highest aggregate (1171) with 590 air rifle and 581 smallbore scores.

Air Force travels to Lexington, Va., to shoot a match against the Virginia Military Institute on Sunday (Nov. 5).
