Air Force Rifle Athlete of the Week (Jan. 29): This week's Rifle Athlete of the Week is junior Anna Weilbacher (Leona Valley, Calif.).
From the Coach: Anna Weilbacher led the team both days at the Citadel over the weekend. She started out with one of her best performances in smallbore, and then improved on it the next day!" said Launi Meili.
"She took her rifles and gear home with her over the Christmas break to train on her own, and that hard work is already boosting her performance as the season starts to come together. She had a solid 1175 the first day and then finished with an 1176 the second, her best scores of the year to date.
The second day in smallbore was one for the record books. With everyone averaging over 580, that helped boost the team score to a level to help get us to nationals. We'll take it one match at a time as the conference championships and qualifiers come up next."
Air Force Rifle Athletes of the Week (2017): Weilbacher (Oct. 17, Oct. 30), Sawicki (Nov. 13), Brandon (Nov. 20), and sophomore Logan Ogden (Dec. 4).
Weekend Outlook: The Falcons will pick up action at home on Feb. 2 against Alaska and UTEP. On Feb. 3-4, the Falcons host the PRC Conference Championships at the Falcon Rifle Range.
