2011-12 Outlook: Cadet Seery is our most experienced shooter returning to the team. In 2010 he competed with the US Shooting National Team at the World Championships, where he led the junior team to a bronze medal. This past summer he placed fourth at the USA National Championships in the open division, an amazing accomplishment at such a young age. In his senior year, Cadet Seery will help anchor the team in both events to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
2010-11: Finished fourth in the country at the 2011 USA Shooting National Championships in the men's prone, July 3-5.
2009-10: Was member of the 2010 U.S. Junior World Championship rifle team that placed third in the 50m rifle prone men junior championships at the 50th ISSF World Championships in Munich, Germany ... had the highest team USA score with a 595 in the 50m prone and led the team to win the bronze-team medal ... also scored a 589 in the 50m rifle prone men junior individual competition ... In June, he became the school's first men's USA Shooting Junior National 50-meter prone rifle champion and qualifier for the U.S. Junior World Championship Team in the prone event.
2008-09: Had back to back highs of 584 in air rifle ... first 584/600 was against Nebraska in October, shot a 584 at the Reno-UTEP match in November ... also scored a 576 in smallbore at the Alaska match in December ... at the TCU-NCAA qualifier, he scored a 570 in smallbore.
Before Air Force: Parents are Michael and Heidi Seery ... three-time state champion in smallbore ... coach was Paul Becks ... shot at various national competitions while in high school including the Junior Olympics in 2008 (placed 11th in three-position, fourth in prone) ... NMS finalist ... National Honor Society member ... made honor roll throughout high school ... also had campus visit with Ohio State University ... enjoys rifle and computer science.
Academy: Major is Computer Engineering ... would like a career in research after the Academy ... member of Cadet Squadron 22 - Raptors.
