NJOSC continues April 17-19 with the men's 3-Position 03/09/2013 Academy Rifle Team Fifth in the NationTyler Rico and Meredith Carpentier earn All-American honors 03/08/2013 USAFA Rifle Smallbore Team in 5th Place at NCAAsSmallbore: 2,311 points (5th) As a freshman, David Higgins' intended on majoring in operations research at the Academy ... during the 2012-13 season, he finished with a 576 in men's air rifle at the 2012 Winter Air Gun Championships (Dec. 2) ... he set two personal-best records in air rifle (588) on Feb. 2 and smallbore (577) on Oct. 12 ... at the qualifiers, he finished fifth with a 577 in smallbore and scored a perfect 100 in the smallbore prone position ... he was the Falcons' fifth highest shooter in air rifle totaling 574 points ... on Feb. 2 against Reno, he was the runner up with 588 points ... on Feb. 9, he finished with a 586 in air rifle as the Falcons' second-place finisher against UTEP ... during the 2013 Junior Olympic Shooting Championships (Jan. 19-20), he finished with a 580 in men's air rifle. BEFORE THE ACADEMY: Attended San Clemente High School ... his parents are David and Pherby Higgins ... has one brother, Kenneth ... his father swam for West Virginia University and is a colonel in the Marine Corps ... HOBBIES: rock climbing, surfing, sailing. ATHLETICS: Athletic awards/accomplishments: Soccer (freshman and sophomore year, one varsity letter), Track and field (sophomore year). "I earned my civilian distinguished rifleman badge at the end of my junior year in high school." ACADEMY: Intended major is operations research ... currently in Cadet Squadron 03 - Dogs of War. EXPECTATIONS: He would like to become an operations research analyst for the Air Force ... his athletic career goal is to go to the NCAA Championships all four years. |
