The NCAA Men's and Women's rifle Committee announced today the teams and individual qualifiers for the 2014 National Collegiate Men's and Women's Rifle Championships. Among the individual selectees was Air Force junior Meredith Carpentier (Waukegan, Ill.).
The Academy's rifle team competed in the 2014 NCAA Qualifier on Saturday at TCU in Fort Worth. Air Force lost the qualifier match by only 10 points, 4660-4650.
Air Force junior Meredith Carpentier (Waukegan, Ill.) (Rifle) received the honor of becoming one of Colorado's Outstanding Female Athletes. Carpenter joins a long list of outstanding female athletes from Colorado selected as the 2014 Award Winners for their performance in 2013 as named by Sportswomen of Colorado.
The Air Force rifle team took second place in the first-ever Patriot Rifle Conference smallbore and air rifle championship matches this weekend in Columbus, Ohio. Air Force was in fourth place in smallbore.
The Air Force rifle team beat Akron, 4638-4616. Air Force outscored the Zips 2304-2289 in smallbore and 2334-2327 in the air rifle.
