Fencing Teams To Compete in Armed Forces Championships
Nov. 5, 2001
On Saturday, the Air Force fencing team will compete in the Armed Force Championships held at the Pierre Le Chat Fencing Club in Arvada, Colo. The Air Force fencers will also fence against the teams from Army at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11.
In two previous years, Air Force and Army split with the Air Force women winning both years. "It promises to be an exciting match," AFA assistant coach Zach Becker said. "When the two schools fence each other, there is always a lot of emotion involved. We are looking to sweep the competition this year."
The Air Force fencers to watch are: Seth Kelsey in the men's epee, Andy Greig, sabre and Ryan Dunn, foil. In the women's events it will be Elia Burrill, epee, Ashley Roell, foil and Andrea Rix, sabre.
