Air Force Fencers to Host Falcon Open USAF Academy, Colo. -- The Air Force Academy fencing team will host the Falcon Open on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 29-30, at the Cadet Gymnasium. The event is open to the public. The Falcon Open attracts many top fencers from Colorado, including some of the top fencers who train at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. "This event is important to us because this is our preparation for our NCAA meet at Northwestern in Chicago, Nov. 19-20. Also it will help the Academy's younger fencers to prepare for the Junior National tournament in Albuquerque, Nov. 11-14," said head coach Abdel Salem. The Academy's fencing teams will be led by AFA's 2004 mixed sabre champion, senior Sam Bartron, who will vie for his place in the winner's circle this year and senior Jackson Ranes, the '04 runner-up in mixed epee. Both are this year's team captains. Leading the Air Force women is sophomore Eliza Enyart who will compete in women's epee. Enyart was last year's runner-up in the women's division. The Falcons are expecting some great performances at this year's event. --30--
