Air Force Fencers have success at Junior A competition

Four Academy fencers traveled to Louisville, Ky., to compete in the Junior "A" competition, Sept. 20-21. Three Air Force men finished in the top 15 and the only Air Force woman to compete finished 29th.
C4C (Fr.) Timothy French from Austin, Texas was the Falcons' top finisher in the men's epee. French competed against 56 fencers and placed second in the event. C4C Jackson Ranes from Las Vegas, Nev., was the fifth-place finisher. In men's foil, it was C4C Nicholas Mosca who took 14th among 61 competitors. Mocas is from Oklahoma City, Okla. Caitlin Harris, a freshman from San Antonio, Texas, took 29th place among 53 women's epee fencers.
"Our first competition had good results," Head coach Abdel Salem, commented. "Our group of freshmen will be our power in foil and epee, and I expect these four to have a good season."
On Sept. 28, Air Force will host the prestigious Nick Toth Open in the Cadet Gymnasium.
