London Olympics: Seth Kelsey falls in the men's epee semifinals
Aug. 2, 2012
Colorado Springs Gazette story by Dave Ramsey LONDON -- U.S. epee fencer Seth Kelsey lost 6-5 in overtime Wednesday in the Olympic semifinals to Venezuelan Ruben Limardo Gascon in the ExCeL Center. Kelsey will fence for the bronze medal against the loser of a bout now being contested. The semifinal was close. Both fencers were called for passivity. A passivity call shortens the match. Kelsey tied it 5-5 in the third period. Gascon was given priority for the overtime period by coin flip, meaning he would have won had the overtime ended tied. Kelsey is a graduate of Oregon Episcopal School who lists Portland as his hometown. Kelsey is an Air Force Academy 2003 graduate. -- Ken Goe Photo courtesy of Associated Press Latest results
