Air Force fencer, Peter French, from Austin, Texas, finished 14th at the 2009 Summer Nationals in Grapevine, Texas, on July 4 in Division 1 Men's Epee. In the battle for a spot in the top eight, French lost to Benjamin Bratton from New York, 15-12. Earlier in the match, French had held a 12-8 lead over Bratton. French finished 43-13 overall for 14th place. Benjamin Ungar from Harvard was the men's epee champion.

In men's foil, Nick Stockdale finished 19th among the field of 100 in the Division 1A competition.

"This was a tough competition," said head coach Abdel Salem. "Peter advanced higher in this competition than in his previous year where he finished 33rd in Division I in 2007."

"This was a good competition for Nick," said Salem. "Nick is becoming more confident in his fencing and I look forward to seeing him compete in the fall."

The pair will return in the fall to lead the Air Force fencers in what shall be an exciting Falcon fencing season. .
