Ten Runners Were Named to the MWC Academic All-Conference Team

    Ten Air Force cross country runners were named to the Mountain West Conference Academic All-Conference team. Six AFA women and four men received the honor.

    The women's cross country runners were seniors Anne Chumlea (management 3.47) and Kelly McPherson (History 3.06), sophomore Vivien Aspden (Physics 3.61) and freshmen Elizabeth Catherwood (undeclared 3.94), Jenna Dorsey-Spitz (undeclared 3.28) and Ashley Snyder undeclared 3.94). Men's team members selected were senior Ben Payne (aero engineering 3.01), junior Brian Dumm (Humanities 3.30) and sophomores Jeff Gosselin (biology 3.13) and Nick Wilson (mechanical engineering 3.55).

    Payne and Dumm were also first team all-MWC and 2002 all-Mountain Region selections,. Air Force won the Mountain West Conference championship. Chumlea, McPherson, Aspden and Catherwood were members of the Academy's Mountain Region Championship 14th-place team. The women's team finished third in the MWC for the fifth consecutive year.
