Women's Fencing team beats Florida and Cal State Fullerton in Western Invite

In the 2008 NCAA Western Invitational, the Air Force women's team beat the Florida Gators, 15-12, and Cal State Fullerton, 22-4, at the USAFA Cadet Gymnasium, Saturday, Jan. 12. Overall, Air Force finished 2-3. Air Force lost to Notre Dame, 22-5, Stanford, 11-7, and UC San Diego, 18-9. Notre Dame swept the tournament, 5-0. In AFA's 22-4 win versus Fullerton, the Falcons sabre team of junior Angelica Plazas, senior Myramn Ruth, sophomores Jennifer Nolta and Catherine Elmore won their bouts, 7-2, overall. In women's epee, seniors Eliza Enyart and Brynn Thoreson, freshmen Angela Nagel and Nichole Flint, and junior Mary Guzowski finished off Fullerton, 8-1. The foil team of senior Collette Bannister, juniors Julie Luce and Ainsley Allen, freshmen Samone Suluai and Kali Kingsley won their bouts, 8-1, overall. Against Florida, Air Force finished, 5-4, in sabre, foil and epee, respectively, to win 15-12. The men's teams from Air Force, Notre Dame, Fullerton, San Diego, Stanford and Florida will compete on Sunday, Jan. 13, at the Cadet Gymnasium. 2008 Western Invitational (Fencing) Saturday, Jan. 12 Women's Team Standings
