AFA Fencers at North American Cup

    The Falcons resume action Jan. 10-12 at the North American Cup Division I Competition in San Jose, Calif. The NAC venue is the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. Saturday's, Jan. 10, events include the men's epee at 8 a.m. and the women's Saber competition at 1 p.m. Men's Saber is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 11, at 8 a.m.

    The men and women's foil and women's epee events will be held on Jan. 16-18 at the McEnery Convention Center. Women's epee is Friday, Jan. 16, at 8 a.m. Women's foil is on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 11 a.m. and the men's foil event is Sunday, Jan. 18, at 8 a.m.

    The fencers are coming off their break expecting to do well in the NAC competition. After San Jose, the team will have a week to prepare for the meet at Notre Dame on Jan. 31. Air Force will compete against Notre Dame, UC San Diego, Cal State Fullerton, Cleveland State, Detroit, Duke, Lawrence, Northwestern, Ohio State and Wayne State.

    Prior to the Christmas break, sophomore Timothy French finished 53rd in the December 12th NAC men's epee tournament. Teammate Curtis Marshall finished 73rd and Gian Carlo Rando placed 85th in the tournament. Freshman Jason Stockdale was eliminated in the first round. The Falcons competed among 150 fencers in the NAC tournament, which was held in Palm Springs, Calif.
