March 12, 2018

Air Force fencing had a successful weekend at the 2018 NCAA West Regional Individual Championships at Caltech in Pasedena, Calif., on Saturday, March 10. The Falcons had four fencers qualify for the NCAA Championships, including a pair of second-place finishes.

Leading the way were sophomore Leanne Singleton-Comfort and freshman Matt Goode.

Goode placed second in the men’s epee, and qualified for an NCAA slot. The freshman went 5-3 overall.

Also qualifying were freshmen Mackensie Nechanicky and Brian Swicegood.

Nechanicky placed third in the women’s foil and earned an NCAA slot based on her National Qualifier ranking. Nechanicky went 8-4 overall.

Swicegood placed third in the men’s foil, earning his NCAA slot. The freshman went 9-3 in head-to-head competition.
