2005-06: Although he spent most of the season as an exchange cadet at the Naval Academy, he was an NCAA qualifier in 2006 ... he won the silver medal at the Western Regional Championships in March, finishing second in men's foil ... due to military leadership commitments, he did not compete in the NCAA finals. 2004-05: One of the foil team's strongest fencers, in Division I NAC in Virginia, he finished 66th of 129 ... was the runner-up in mixed foil at the Falcon Open, the Military Championship foil champion ... he finished first of 65 in open foil at the New Mexico Open and tied for third of 27 in mixed foil at the Nick Toth Open. 2003-04: Did not compete. Before Air Force: Placed eighth in the 2002 Division I National Championships in foil ... multiple time state, regional, and sectional champion ... son of Randy and Fritzi Smith from Wildwood, Missouri.
