Air Force Fencing Earns Top Finishes at Amarillo Open

Falcon Fencers Earn Three First Place Finishes at Amarillo Open

2016-17 (Sophomore): Four victories on the season...earned two wins each at Northwestern Invite and Duke Invite...placed 19th in senior and 15th in junior epee at Nick Toth Open.

2015-16 (Freshman)
:  Top finishes were sixth place at the Amarillo Open in the senior women’s epee competiton ... she placed 30th in the senior mixed event ... placed 31st in the Falcon Open in the senior women’s event ... competed in the 2016 Division III women’s epee NAC in April ... finished 50th overall.

Before the Academy:  Attended Lakenheath High School, Lakenheath Royal AFB, England and Fort Walton Beach High School, Fla., … competed in volleyball, basketball, and swimming as team captain, soccer, flag football and track … earned the Girl Scout Gold award.

Personal:  Grew up in a military home … career goals include learning the art of fencing, growing and developing into a better person and leader and helping others … parents are Dan and Terry Orcutt. 

Favorites movies, bands, TV Shows, classes, books, sports and sport personality include:  “Remember the Titans” and “Princess Bride”, Fall Out Boy, “Friends”, “NCIS”, “Castle”, History and Spanish, “Guardian Angel” by William Sine, “Scarlet”, by A.C. Gaughen, Peyton Manning … hobbies are adventuring and reading … favorite quote is: “Always be proud, never be satisfied,” author unknown … enjoys anything outdoors, reading, and spending time with friends and family … also boxes … her best athletic moment was “ When I cleared 10 feet in pole vaulting for the first time,” said Orcutt.

Academy:  Started fencing in 2015 and will fence epee for Air Force … major is undecided … pursued the Academy to serve her country and to be challenged to develop into a better person … would like to become a combat rescue officer.
