FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- The Air Force volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Colorado State this evening (Oct. 23) at Moby Arena in Fort Collins. The Falcons, facing the Rams in conference action for final time as Mountain West opponents, fell 17-25, 25-27, 25-23, 14-25.
Senior Ashley Bible led the Falcons with 14 kills, while sophomore Alysa Walker also recorded a double-digit kill total with 11 and freshman Sonia Okpara, in her first collegiate start, nearly reached that plateau, with nine. In addition to their offensive numbers, Walker served up three of the team's five aces and Bible tallied 10 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Sophomore Mia Loyd assisted on 37 of the team's 45 kills, while senior Jordan Suan registered a team-high 15 digs.
Air Force had a good defensive night at the net – tallying double-digit blocking totals against CSU for the second time in a week. The Falcons, who posted 12 stops at the Academy last Thursday, added 10 more (one solo, 18 assisted) tonight on the Rams' home floor. Sophomore Grace Fiaseu led the team with seven blocks (one solo, six assisted), while four others – Okpara (five), senior Alex Hatchett (three), Walker (two) and Loyd (two) – all got a hand on multiple stops.
Air Force will head to Reno this Saturday (Oct. 25) for a match-up with Nevada.
