Air Force Safety Weston Steelhammer has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week for the second time this season.
The 6-2, 200-pound senior from Shreveport, La. had two more interceptions, giving him six for the season, in the Falcons' 41-38 win over San Jose State. One of the interceptions stopped a San Jose drive and the other in the closing seconds sealed the win. Steelhammer also led the team with 10 tackles, including one for a loss.
He leads Air Force in total tackles this season with 71.
Steelhammer has 17 career interceptions, most among active players in the nation.
In recognition of Steelhammer's performance, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, sponsors of the Lott IMPACT Trophy, will make a $1,000 donation to the general scholarship fund at the Air Force Academy.
The four finalists for the 13th annual Lott IMPACT Trophy will be announced Nov. 30 and the finalist will be announced at the Lott IMPACT Trophy Award Banquet at the Pacific Club in Newport Beach, Ca. on Dec. 11.
