Lisa Smith joined the athletic training staff at USAFA in 1994. During her tenure at the Academy Smith has worked with many sports including football, women’s basketball, women’s volleyball, track and field and swimming/diving. She currently works with women's gymnastics and men’s water polo.
In 2001, Smith volunteered for the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, N.Y., working with the USA Women's Hockey National Team Festival. In 2002, she was selected as the athletic trainer for the 2002 USA Basketball Young Women's National Team, which competed in the qualifying tournament for the 2002 COPABA World Championship for Young Women in Ribeirao Preto, Brazil.
Prior to the Academy, Smith spent five years as an assistant athletic trainer at Merrimack College in N. Andover, MA where she worked with men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, softball and baseball.
Smith is a 1986 graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she earned a bachelor's degree in exercise physiology. She followed that by earning a master's in the same field at Slippery Rock in 1989.
Smith currently resides in Colorado Springs with her Toy Fox Terrier Max.
