Lt Col Gerald McGinty
Lt Col Gerald McGinty is the Director of Sports Medicine and Associate Athletic Director at the United States Air Force Academy. Col McGinty enters his third year in the athletic department where his primary responsibility is the supervision of the athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, and equipment managers.
Col McGinty earned his BS in Physical Therapy from University of Maryland in 1988, his Master's degree in Physical Therapy from University of Pittsburgh in 1999, and his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Regis University in 2008. He is board certified in Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy. Col McGinty has provided athletic training support for the USAFA Preparatory School, All Air Force Wrestling Team, All Air Force Men's Basketball Team, and USAFA Men's and Woman's Rugby Team. Col McGinty is a licensed Physical Therapist by the state of Pennsylvania and member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
In his 20 year Air Force Career, Col McGinty has been stationed at seven different locations and has been deployed three times. He enjoys youth coaching, wrestling, and snowboarding. Col McGinty and his wife Mimi live in Colorado Springs with their children Kelly, Michael, Jerry, and Kaitlin.
