Dr. Gerald McGinty is a board certified Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapist who currently works with the USAF Academy Wrestling and Rifle teams. Dr. McGinty served 24 years in the USAF and retired in 2012 as a Lieutenant Colonel.
He served as the Athletic Department’s Director of Sports Medicine from 2008 to 2015. Dr. McGinty earned his Bachelors in Physical Therapy from University of Maryland in 1988, his Masters in Physical Therapy from University of Pittsburgh in 1999, and his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Regis University in 2008. Dr. McGinty is also involved in concussion research and serves as the USAF Academy’s Primary Investigator for the $30M NCAA/DoD CARE Concussion study and the $400K NCAA Mind Matters Challenge.
