    ICE SKATING PROGRAM FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    Learn to skate lessons start September 9th, 2013. For more information contact Pam Nearhoof at (719)333-0229 Question: How much do lessons cost?
    Answer: $65 for 6 weeks. This includes a mandatory USFSU membership. Proof of current membership at registration lowers the cost to $55.

    Question: How long are sessions?
    Answer: 1/2 hour, 1 day a week.

    Question: What does the price include?
    Answer: The price includes skate rental (if needed) and practice time the day of the session.

    Question: How old do you have to be?
    Answer: 3 years to 99! (Younger children can be evaluated by an instructor to determine if they are ready for lessons).

    Question: What should you wear?
    Answer: Warm, loose clothing, hats, gloves. Helmets are highly encouraged for figure skating lessons and mandatory for hockey lessons.

    Question: On what days are lessons offered?
    Answer: On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, in the mornings and evenings.

    Question: How are children grouped?
    Answer: Children and adults are grouped according to level/age/ability.

    Question: How often do you have lessons?
    Answer: Lessons are scheduled for a six-week period. The next session will follow the registration week.

    Question: What program do you follow?
    Answer: Our lessons follow the curriculum for the U.S. Figure Skating Skate with U.S. Program / USFSA.

    Question: What are your hours of operation?
    Answer: Currently, recreational skating hours are; Monday-Friday-Noon to 1:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday evening 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday-1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

    Question: Who is eligible to skate at the Air Force Academy Ice Arena?
    Answer: The Air Force Academy Athletic Corporation welcomes everyone to take lessons and attend recreational skating sessions. Cadets are authorized to skate without charge or admission, but are required to pay for skate rental if needed. Air Force Academy Employees (military and civilian) on duty are authorized to skate the noon session free of admission but also must pay for rental if they need to rent skates. All others will pay the posted fees.

    Question: What are the fees?
    Answer: Admission is $5.00, skate rental is $2.00, skating pass (15 punches) is $60.00 and lessons are $65.00. Freestyle and drop in hockey are $8.00.

    Question: What size skates do you have?
    Answer: Children's sizes 8-4 figure skates, children's hockey in size 10-4; Adult sizes 4 1/2-13 figure skates, 5-13 hockey skates.

    Question: What days are you closed?
    Answer: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve & Day, and New Years Eve & Day.

    Question: How many Instructors do you have?
    Answer: Currently, we have 2 instructor/coaches. Donna Baker, Carrie Manny.
