The definition of flexibility is the ability of a joint to move freely through its full range of motion. It is also the absolute range of movement in a joint or series of joints that is attainable in a momentary effort with the help of a partner or a piece of equipment."
Flexibility is not something general but is specific to a particular joint or set of joints. Being flexible in one particular area or joint does not necessarily imply being flexible in another .
Proper body mechanics, both during strenuous activity and during everyday muscular/skeletal movement rely on the body having a certain degree of flexibility.
We perform two flexibility tests. The modified sit and reach test which primarily tests hamstring muscle flexibility and lower back muscles and the total body rotation test which tests the reaching, bending and turning of the upper body torso and the horizontal range of motion of the shoulder.
