Coed Camp Coach Abdel Salem
2004: (Boarder and Commuter)
?June 28-30 2004: (Commuter Only - Ages 11-15)
Head coach Abdel Salem is in his fifth season at the helm of the Academy's fencing program. Before coming to the Academy, Salem was the head coach at the Lone Star Fencing Center in Dallas, Texas. He founded the center in 1989 and developed fencers from the novice skill level to the advanced competitor, including the U.S. national team members.
Salem taught U.S. Olympic and world team members. Coach Salem, along with former Air Force fencers, as well as international and collegiate coaching staffs will direct the 2004 fencing camp.
Campers will be grouped by age and skill. On a typical day, campers will progress in the fundamental of techniques devoted to refining the individual skills. Fundamentals will help the athlete to gain a distinct advantage over his competitor. The camp provides instruction in both the philosophy and the techniques of fencing, merits of sportsmanship and the ideals of amateur athletic competition.
The Falcon fencing camp is recommended for fencers seeking instruction in a competitive environment. It is not a learn-to-fence program. Fencers should be in good condition prior to coming to camp. The camp features personalized instruction, drills, and weapon strategies, instruction in conditioning methods and daily bouting. Fencers should come with complete equipment ready to fence.
