Falcon Sports Camps - Frequent Questions

    2007 Falcon Sports Camps dates: Wk1 - June 10-15, Wk2 - June 17-22 & Wk3 - June 25-27

    Question: Is a deposit required to secure a spot?
    Answer: Yes, there is a non-refundable $100.00 deposit required for all mail-in (check or credit card) or fax (credit card) applications. (Online registrations will be charged the full amount plus a $5 service charge)

    Question: What is the refund policy?
    Answer: Other than a medical emergency, the deposit is non-refundable. If a refund is requested for medical reasons, a statement from your doctor must accompany your written (mailed, emailed, or faxed) request. Note: Refund requests will not be honored after 1 August.

    Question: What is the age requirement to attend camp?
    Answer: Commuter ages are 8-18 for most camps, while boarder ages are 12-18.

    Question: Who actually coaches our kids during Sports Camps?
    Answer: Each respective sport is headed by the Air Force Academy's head coaching staff. However, because of the number of campers, additional high school and college coaches are hired to assist with coaching.

    Question: What kind of evening activities are available for boarders once camp has concluded in the afternoon?
    Answer: Falcon Sports Camps have an abundance of activities and venues for each boarder. A camper may elect to ice skate, swim, play basketball or volleyball, or choose to compete at foosball, air hockey or table tennis. Each venue is supervised and managed by a staff of trained adults.

    Question: What kind of supervision is provided to Sports Camp boarders during their stay?
    Answer: Led by a staff of active duty officers, there are over 80 cadet counselors who reside in the Sports Camp dormitory during camp. The cadets provide counseling, guidance, and supervision. A contracted security company also provides additional security during early evening and nighttime hours.

    Question: Is there a medical staff available at all times for campers?
    Answer: Yes. There is a staff of sixteen nurses and trainers available 24 hours a day.

    Question: If my camper wants to attend Wk 1 & 2 of camp, are dorm rooms available between camps on Fri & Sat night?
    Answer: Unfortunately not. Friday's and Saturday's are spent cleaning rooms, taking care of maintenance issues, and preparing for the next week of boarders. (Note: There are several fine hotels just minutes from the Academy that parents do occasionally send their kids to, but Falcon Sports Camps does not sponsor or suggest hotels to parents. This is strictly up to each individual parent).

    Question: Are girls and boys dormitory rooms located on the same floors?
    Answer: No. Male and female floors are completely segregated from each other. In addition, each floor also has their own assigned nurse as well as staff personnel.

    Question: Are meals included during camp?
    Answer: All boarders are provided breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Lunch is provided for commuter campers.

    Question: Is a physical required in order to participate in camp?
    Answer: No

    Question: Are bed linen and toiletries provided for boarders?
    Answer: No. Boarders must ensure they bring their own blanket, pillow, sheets (twin beds), towels, etc. and also whatever toiletries they will need during the week (shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothbrush & toothpaste, etc.).

    Question: Are Sports Camp discounts available?
    Answer: Other than an online, advertised 'Early Bird Special' discounts are only granted to Active Duty Military or DoD Civilians. These are granted through mail-in, faxed applications only. Group discounts are available for 10 or more campers in the same sport. (Group discounts must be mailed in together to receive the discount).

    Question: Are Sports Camp Scholarships available?
    Answer: Unfortunately not, NCAA rules and regulations prohibit us from granting scholarships.
