Former AF water polo player receives Aviator Valor Award

Capt. Jeff Donaldson, a 2006 USAFA graduate, was recently granted the Aviator Valor Award for his actions while deployed overseas in May 2011. Donaldson, a four-year member of the Falcons' water polo team and team captain as a senior, is currently a helicopter pilot with the 55th Rescue Squadron based at Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz.

"Coaching Jeff four years at the Academy in water polo was a coach's dream," said former Air Force water polo coach Jeff Ehrlich. "In the the spring of his junior year, the team had a chance to get some helicopter rides while on our Annapolis trip and Jeff told me at that time his goal was to fly helicopters in the Air Force. I knew he would attain that dream and be an excellent and courageous pilot. Receiving the Aviator Valor Award is a testament to Jeff's unselfish contribution to the Air Force mission and its core values."
