Thank You Fans - Means wins award

LAS VEGAS (Nov. 30, 2011) - As a part of its 20th year celebration, the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas began a new tradition by conducting weekly Facebook player of the week polls, driven by fan votes, recognizing exemplary on-field play within the two Bowl affiliated conferences, the Pac-12 and Mountain West. This week's MAACO Bowl Las Vegas Pac-12 and Mountain West Player of the Week are:

MAACO Bowl Las Vegas Pac-12 Player of the Week

Darron Thomas, Quarterback, University of Oregon

Thomas helped secure a birth to the inaugural Pac-12 championship game by completing 27 of 40 passes for 305 yards and four touchdowns in the Ducks' convincing win over in-state rival Oregon State.

MAACO Bowl Las Vegas Mountain West Player of the Week

    Alex Means, Linebacker, Air Force

Means had 5 total tackles with two sacks and two forced fumbles helping make the Falcons bowl eligible in their 45-21 win over Colorado State.

"As the regular-season draws to a close, it is fitting that an Oregon Duck is awarded the last MAACO Bowl Las Vegas Pac-12 Player of the Week award, as Darron Thomas and the Ducks have had a tremendous year," said Tina Kunzer-Murphy, MAACO Bowl Las Vegas executive director. "Alex Means, on the other hand, became the first Falcon MAACO Bowl Las Vegas Mountain West Player of the Week as Air Force fans came out to support their outstanding linebacker."
