This week in Air Force athletics


Tickets are still available to catch Air Force in action during a rare Thursday night game at Falcon Stadium.  Thanks to game sponsor American Family Insurance the Air Force ticket office has opened up a limited number of upper reserved tickets for only $5.  $20 tailgate packages are also still available.  Tailgate packages include a ticket to the game along with admission to the Falcon Pride tent for an all you can eat meal catered by Famous Dave's and drinks up to 2 and a half hours prior to kick.  To purchase tickets for the game click here.

GAME FACTS: Air Force returns home for the first time in two weeks and back into Mountain West Conference play for the first time since Sept. 10...Air Force has had an open week and three straight non-conference games since its last MW game...This week marks the MW road opener for SDSU...Air Force and San Diego State each stand at 3-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play...San Diego State has lost two straight after a 3-0 start...Air Force has never opened up Mountain West play 0-2...The Falcons' last 0-2 conference start was in 1994 with losses at home to Colorado State and No. 21 BYU while in the WAC...Air Force ranks third in the MW in scoring at 37.4 points per game while SDSU is second in scoring defense with a 24.0 norm...SDSU is second in the MW and eight nationally in turnover margin with 1.40 mark while Air Force is eighth in the league with a -.80 mark...Air Force leads the MW in rushing and is second nationally with a 364.2 average while the Aztecs are seventh in the league in rushing defense with a 229.0 mark...This week's game features the conference top two individual rushers ...SDSU sophomore Ronnie Hillman leads the league and ranks fifth nationally with a 132.2 per game average...Air Force senior Asher Clark is second in the MW and 32nd nationally with a 96.8 average...Air Force was picked fourth in the MW preseason poll while San Diego State was selected to finish fourth...The two teams tied for third last season with 5-3 marks...Air Force leads the overall series 19-10, including victories in four of the last six...The Falcons are 2-1 in Thursday night games under head coach Troy Calhoun

Coach Calhoun's Radio Show - October 11th - Stop by Back East Bar and Grill tonight for the Coach Calhoun Radio Show.  Enjoy great food and drink specials after work and then stick around for some Falcon football talk with Coach Calhoun from 6:30pm - 7:30pm as Air Force prepares for a big road game in South Bend.


Football Luncheon - October 12th - This week's football luncheon will be held on Wednesday at the Falcon Stadium press box.  Join Falcon fans for a great lunch, drinks, door prizes and a chance to hear from Coach Calhoun before this Thursday's game.  Lunch will be provided by Qdoba.  The menu includes an all you can eat taco bar with rice, black beans, queso and cookies and brownies.  Tickets are only $10 and available at the door.  Lunch will be served at 11 and the program will begin at noon. 


Hockey Home Opener and Skate With the Falcons - October 14th and 15th and 16th - Air Force hockey opens up at home this Friday against Niagara @ 7:05 pm.  Youth Day $2 tickets will be available at the gate for all kids age 15 and under.  Fans can stick around following the game to get autographs and photos with Falcon players.  On Saturday fans are invited back out to the Cadet Ice Arena to skate with the Falcons!  Kids can come down on the ice with the team for a free skate from 1:30 - 2:45 and then meet the players for autographs and photos following.  Skate rentals will be available for only $3.  Air Force will then close up the weekend series with Robert Morris @ 5:05 pm.  $5 Sunday Saver tickets are available by clicking here.

A Night With Falcon Men's Basketball - October 22nd - Air Force men's basketball would like to invite Falcon fans out to Clune Arena for a special pre-season event on October 22nd.  Fans are welcome to stop by for an open practice with the team from 5:15 - 6 pm and then hear from Falcon players and coaches and enjoy an informal meal with the team from 6 - 6:45pm.  Kids are invited to hang out with the team during dinner and collect posters and autographs throughout the night.  Fans will also have the opportunity to select their seats for the season.  Admission and dinner are both free and open to the public.  Rudy's barbeque will be providing the meal so come hungry and ready to preview Falcon hoops.
