This week's marketing moment

A THANK YOU TO OUR FANS Last year at this time we sent out a call to our fans to join us in increasing the visibility of Air Force Athletics in the Colorado Springs area.  Over 150 fans responded to our message, volunteering their time and effort to get information out in the community about Falcon Athletics and help us reach new fans in the area.  As a result, attendance numbers in 2010-11 saw unprecedented growth for our major ticketed sports.

Football started things off in the fall when season ticket sales reached the 17,000 mark for the first time since 2002.  Average attendance grew by nearly 5,000 fans a game (12%)  bolstered by back to back sellouts (BYU and Navy) in Falcon Stadium for the first time in 30 years.  As no coincidence the team went 5-1 at home.  The trend continued with volleyball as season ticket sales increased from 2009 by an incredible 400%.  The program set records for highest single game attendance and highest season total attendance in school history.  In correlation the team won their first conference match in 3 years at home.  Hockey continued to draw large crowds this season averaging well over capacity for the season.  Fans bought up season ticket packages a month before the first game and packed into the Cadet Ice Arena at an average rate that was up 100 per game from last season.  The Falcons went 11-5-2 at home and knocked off #3 Yale in front of a standing room only crowd.  The Falcon women's basketball team also saw improvement in attendance during the season.   The women set an all-time school record for single game attendance and won the NCAA's "Pack the House Challenge" for the Mountain West Conference.  Average attendance increased by 75% from a year ago and season ticket sales were up by 125%.  Coach Williams' squad won 4 more games in conference in 2010-11.

These figures are a direct result of your loyalty to the Air Force Academy and dedication toward improving the competitive environment for our cadet athletes.  Thank you for coming out to cheer on the Falcons this year and encouraging others to do so as well.  If you have not yet contacted us to get involved with the Falcon Fan Outreach Program and would like to please contact Matt with AFA Athletic Marketing at 719-838-7208 or  Volunteers interested in the program can register their place of work to receive promotional materials (posters, schedule cards, informational brochures, etc) to place out in a public area for coworkers and customers to have access to.  Through this exposure we will continue to reach new fans and build on our goal of becoming the Pikes Peak Region's "Hometown Team."  Thank you again for your support, we look forward to hearing from you soon!
