Junior Rachel Thomas set the Academy record in the 400-meter hurdles during the Tailwind Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., on Saturday, April 2. Crossing the finish line in a time of 1:02.50, Thomas shaved nearly two seconds off of her previous fastest time to place second in the race and set the new program standard.
Thomas broke the Academy record of 1:02.65 that had stood since 2002, while becoming the just the second Falcon to crack the program's top five since that year. Her time is currently ranked sixth in the Mountain West Conference. She also ran the third leg of the 4x400-meter relay that placed fifth in a time of 3:53.75 - the seventh-fastest time in Academy history.
