Senior Caroline Kurtz had a strong start to the season for the Air Force volleyball team this past weekend at the 2010 Falcon Invitational. Kurtz, an all-tournament team selection, recorded 55 kills, 30 digs and four service aces over the three-match weekend (1-2 record for Air Force).
Kurtz was vital in the Falcons' 3-2 season-opening win over Long Island on Friday night, tallying a double-double with 20 kills and 19 digs. She also paced the Falcons with a pair of service aces, as Air Force handed head coach Matt McShane his first victory as a head coach. Kurtz continued to pace the Falcons on Saturday, recording a match-best 16 kills against South Dakota State and a team-high 19 kills against Boise State.
Air Force has three matches schedule for this week. The Falcons will travel to Greeley, Colo., on Tuesday, Aug. 31, before facing Fresno State (Thursday, Sept. 2) and Utah Valley (Friday, Sept. 3) in Orem, Utah.
